I painted this impressionist cityscape one evening on location in the Rose Garden in Florence, Tuscany. I wanted to capture the mood of the garden around dusk, with the lights in the city just coming on in the distance. I loved the colour harmony of the saturated colours of the garden with the greys of the city and hills in the distance.
