Saturday Morning on the Arno

I painted this riverscape one Saturday morning on location by the Arno in Florence. I wanted the capture the mood of the city and river, particularly the feeling of light typical of the area. I liked how the warm yellows and oranges of the buildings contrasted with the cool blues and greens of the river, trees and sky. I also added a small figure in a rowing boat, which is very typical of the area, on the left of the painting to complete the scene.
